Dnes jsem dostal od kamaráda zajímavé hudební tipy.
Hudbu, co neznám napíši po poslechu sem a pokud k tomu někdo
něco má, budu jen rád, když mě poučí. ;)

Flora Purim - Open Your Eyes You Can Fly 1976
Flora Purim (born March 6, 1942; Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian jazz singer known mainly for her work in the jazz fusion style. She became prominent for her part in Chick Corea's landmark album Return to Forever. She has recorded and performed with many artists, including Stanley Clarke, Dizzy Gillespie, Gil Evans, Stan Getz, the Grateful Dead, Santana, Jaco Pastorius, and her husband Airto Moreira.

Dennis Chambers (born May 9, 1959) is an American drummer who has recorded and performed with John Scofield, George Duke, Brecker Brothers, Santana, Parliament/Funkadelic, John McLaughlin, Niacin, Mike Stern, and many others. Despite a lack of formal training, Chambers has become well-known among drummers for his technique and speed. He can play in a wide variety of musical genres, but his favourite style is jazz fusion. He is mostly known for his fast and powerful hands and triplets on the bass drum.

Patti Cathcard Tuck Andress - Learning How To Fly

Tuck & Patti are an American husband and wife jazz duo.
Oklahoma born guitarist Tuck Andress met singer Patti Cathcart, a native of San Francisco, at an audition in Las Vegas in 1980. Prior to this, Tuck had been a session performer with The Gap Band.
Tuck and Patti began performing together in California in 1981 and married in 1983. Signing to Windham Hill in 1987, they released several albums for the label before signing with Epic Records for one album in 1995. After several more on Windham Hill, their releases after 2001 have been on 33rd Street Records. They received a mention on Kathy Griffin's DVD show as part of Griffin's recounting of her experiences at Brooke Shields's wedding to Chris Henchy, where the duo had performed.
Tuck Andress' niece is singer-songwriter Annie Clark who goes under the moniker St. Vincent. As a teenager, Clark was a roadie for Tuck and Patti, and later she was an opening act for the duo.

Podle jména jsem je znal ale hudba mě byla neznámá.
Teď to napravuji.
Je to výborná deska z roku 1968 a jmenuje se:

Grant Green - Idle Moments (1965)

Grant Green (June 6, 1935 - January 31, 1979; some sources erroneously give the birth year as 1931) was a jazz guitarist and composer.
Recording prolifically and almost exclusively for Blue Note Records (as both leader and sideman) Green performed well in hard bop, soul jazz, bebop and Latin-tinged settings throughout his career. Critics Michael Erlewine and Ron Wynn write, "A severely underrated player during his lifetime, Grant Green is one of the great unsung heroes of jazz guitar ... Green's playing is immediately recognizable -- perhaps more than any other guitarist." Critic Dave Hunter described his sound as "lithe, loose, slightly bluesy and righteously groovy". He often performed in an organ trio, a small group with an organ and drummer.

Chtěl bych tady dát tip na výbornou desku Michaela Breckera - Pilgrimage (2007), bohužel jeho poslední. Deska byla natáčená v Michaelově těžké nemoci, rakovina v posledním stadiu. Nakonec se ani nedočkal vydání, deska vyšla až po jeho smrti. Tento fenomenální saxofonista jako by do této poslední desky dal ze sebe všechno to nejlepší, ohromná energie a síla, která se z desky valí na posluchače je úžasná.

Ty jo,ty jsi neznal In gadda vida?To je pecka věech pecek,existuje v krátké i dlouhé verzi(dlouhé brutální solo na bicí).Tato verze existuje dokonce na MFSL cd.

Chlapi musím se smát,při poslechu této kultovní kapely si to tak užívám,že mi příjdou směšné některé nekonečné diskuze o zvucích a zařízeních,i když se jich taky účastním.Čím více tuto kapelu poslouchám tím více se mi líbí,toto jediné album které vydali má opravdu atmosféru.˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙10 HVĚZDIČEK,ALBUM PO HUDEBNÍ STRÁNCE NEMÁ SLABINU,ALE KDESI TO NĚKDO KRITIZOVAL ZA texty(jsou prý moc temné)

Shodou okolností je toto album na cestě ke mně v SACD verzi. Už se těším.

Finnish bassist Pekka Lehti was born in 1965, getting his musical start by playing in punk rock outfits as a teenager. Since his meager musical beginnings, Lehti has broadened his musical horizons considerably, touching upon such varied styles as acid jazz and backing up singer/songwriters. In 1990, Lehti helped co-found the anarchistic organ-based jazz trio the JP's, resulting in such releases as Soul Food Party (1994), Do You See What I See (Love) (1998), and Katastrof (1999), receiving quite a bit of acclaim in Japan. In addition to the JP's, Lehti co-founded another band in the early '90s, ZetaBoo, a self-described ethno jazz group that issued a self-titled debut in 1997 and the sophomore release MediZine in 2000. As if his schedule wasn't busy enough, Lehti is also a member of the modernist folklore ensemble Värttinä, a group in which he serves as its arranger, co-leader, composer, and bassist, as heard on the releases Aitara (1994), Kokko (1996), Vihma (1998), and Ilmatar (2000). Djivan Gasparyan is unquestionably one of Armenia’s greatest musicians, a living legend. He is the foremost virtuoso of the duduk, an ancient oboe-like instrument that is made of apricot wood and capable of sustaining drone notes for long periods of time. It is said that no other instrument is able to convey the emotions of the Armenian people as well as the duduk. In the hands of the master musician the duduk becomes the vehicle for haunting and meditative music that eloquently evokes the Armenian landscape and its people.
Armenia’s most famous folk musician was born in 1928 in Solag, a village near the Armenian capital Yerevan. He began to play the duduk at the age of 6 gaining much of his knowledge by listening to the great masters. He won Gold Medals in four world-wide competitions organised by UNESCO in which he competed (1959, 1962, 1973 and 1980). He has the unique distinction of being the only musician to be given the honorary title of People’s Artist of Armenia in 1973. A professor at the Yerevan Conservatory, he has prepared over 70 duduk musicians for professional performance. He greatly enjoys teaching and it brings him joy to know that, through his efforts, the tradition of duduk playing will not be lost.

U. Srinivas is to Indian classical music what Yehudi Menuhin is to Western classical music. Like Menuhin, U. Srinivas was a child prodigy. He started to play the mandolin, a little-known instrument in India, when he was only six years old. Even though, at the time, the mandolin was an alien instrument in South Indian classical music, Srinivas learnt to play Carnatic ragas on the mandolin with so much ease and dexterity that his name has become synonymous in India with the mandolin and he is popularly called Mandolin Srinivas.

Over the past twenty-five years, Michael Brook has forged his own path, fueled in equal parts by scientific curiosity, the thrill of playing guitar, technical prowess and a fervent interest in music from all over the world. His creative energies and expertise have been tapped over the years by those who recognize Michael as, variously: a record producer; a soundtrack composer; an instrument builder; an inspired collaborator and player; and a solo artist possessed of a unique sensibility.
Michael was born and raised in Toronto, Canada and studied music at York University. In the early 80s he worked as an engineer at Daniel Lanois' studio. He reflects, "From Dan, I got the sense that many things only happen in the moment, as music is being performed or written."
At this time, Michael also met pianist Harold Budd and musical iconoclast Brian Eno. "I used to work a lot with Eno, and I think I learnt quite a bit of my approach to the studio from him... that it's important to stay in touch with a kind of intuitive, emotional sense of direction."
In 1985, Michael's first solo album Hybrid, with contributions from both Eno and Lanois, was released on EG Records to great critical acclaim. That album remains among the ground-breaking works of the mid-80s:
"In a lot of ways, what I do is more oriented around sound than music, and my work is probably simpler than initial impressions might suggest -- I pay a lot of attention to atmospherics."
His second solo album Cobalt Blue (4AD Records,1992) also featured Eno among its larger cast of musicians; Live at the Aquarium (4AD,1993) appeared shortly afterwards, recorded at London Zoo, on the occasion of Cobalt Blue's press launch.
Between his past releases and forthcoming disc, RockPaperScissors, Brook has collaborated with a long list of international talent including Pieter Nooten, Mary Margaret O'Hara, The Pogues, Bryan Ferry, Youssou N'Dour, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Cheb Khaled, Indian electric mandolin player U. Srinivas and the Armenian duduk flute master Djivan Gasparayan and the late Hukwe Zawose.
"Every time you work with somebody else, you learn something you wish you'd known before. I really don't like working by myself. I get cabin fever!"
Another form of collaboration for Brook is film music. In 1992, he composed and performed the acclaimed score for the Academy Award nominated documentary "The Fires of Kuwait." As his opportunities increased, Michael moved to Los Angeles, his current residence and the site of his new studio, La Lavanderia, in the hills above Hollywood.
Following work on the soundtrack to director Michael Mann's 1995 film "Heat", Michael was invited to compose the music for Kevin Spacey's Albino Alligator, and the score for Paul Schrader's 1998 feature Affliction.
"When you are working for film you basically have a patron, which is usually the director. They are an audience of one, and sometimes it is easier to please an audience of that size... sometimes..."
As a musician, Michael's electronically-enhanced guitar may be heard on many films, including composer Hans Zimmer's scores for "Black Hawk Down", "Mission Impossible 2", and "The Pledge".
Most recently, Michael has composed the score for the hot-button, 2006 Al Gore global warming documentary An Inconvenient Truth, and produced the soundtrack, as well as contributed compositions, to the much lauded traveling exhibition, "Ashes and Snow" (with collaborators such as Lisa Gerrard).

Afro Celt Sound System - Volume 1: Sound Magic

It has been an extraordinary journey for the Afro Celt Sound System - one of the most innovative music collectives of its time. In that period there have been many lesser imitators and the global beat movement they pioneered has entered the mainstream.
When Simon Emmerson began to piece together the Afro Celt Sound System in 1992 he had no idea where the journey would take him. But Emmerson's fascination with the link between Irish and African traditions introduced him to three like-minded souls - co-producer and multi-instrumentalist James McNally; vocalist and lyricist Iarla O Lionaird; co-producer, engineer and programmer Martin Russell.
The bonding of these four members turned the Afro Celts from a project into a band. Over the years they have formed an ever-changing collaborative collective with numerous outstanding guest performers who have taken cross-cultural fusion to dizzying hights. As well as core members Johnny Kalsi and N'Faly Koyate they have been joined by a host of names from Robert Plant to Sinead O Connor, Davy Spillane to Liam O'Flynn, Peter Gabriel and Eileen Ivers to name but a few.
As a band they have broken down musical barriers and celebrated musical and cultural differences to create an organic whole out of many parts. They have sold well over 1.2 million albums, contributed to the sound tracks of numerous films - from Hotel Rwanda to Stigmata, and been nominated for two Grammy awards. They have built a formidable live reputation playing to sell out crowds worldwide headlining Festivals at WOMAD and numerous other events.
After five albums the impact and influence of the Afro Celt Sound System remains undiminshed.

Afro Celt Sound System jsem slyšel na loňském ostravském festivalu Colors a byl jsem nadšený. Podařilo se mi je koupit na LP. Na tomto albu zpívá taky Peter Gabriel a Robert Plant.

Tento Gasparyan s Brookem patří mezi mou elitu world music, určitě mezi prvních 10 alb, Když jsem to slyšel asi pčed 7 lety poprvé hrál jsem to i 4 x za sebou, prosté úžasná věc. Mohu doporučit i jejich druhou desku, která se ale velmi těžko shání, mi to trvalo asi 3 roky, než jsem na ni narazil, ale už bych ji nedal z ruk, jmenuje se Penumbra a je to taky klenot.

Co se týká Esperanta mají tři fantastické desky Esperanto Rock Orchestra, Danse Macabre a Last Tango. Vřele doporučuji všechny tři. Petře začínáš více brouzdat do progrocku, zvláště starého, který je prosté úžasný. Hodím tu pak taky pár pecek.

Traffic - John Barleycorn Must Die 1970

The collective nature of Traffic, formed by Steve Winwood and sometime members of the Spencer Davis Group (especially Winwood's best songwriting partner, Jim Capaldi), reaped many musical rewards -- and much interpersonal turbulence. The band's debut Mr. Fantasy (1967) offered up an astonishing mix of rock and jazz and varied influences, colored especially on the title track by Winwood's soulful, plaintive voice. The band persisted despite numerous personnel issues, including Dave Mason's leaving the band at least three times. Their albums were occasionally commercial hits, like the Top 5 charter John Barleycorn Must Die (1970), but were always marked by creative tensions that made for great listening. They disbanded in 1974, and within several years Winwood would re-emerge as a solo artist with huge radio hits. Founding members Winwood and Capaldi re-convened in 1994, but Capaldi's death in 2005 makes any further use of the "Traffic" moniker unlikely.

Blind Faith 1969

Blind Faith was a kind of experiment of Eric Claptons in 1969. The renowned guitarist was a member of super-group Cream at the time, and had achieved superstar status with them in only two years. But the other members - Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker - were frequently arguing, and there was considerable tension about their future musical direction. Clapton wanted space to be a little adventurous with his music, and he wanted to escape the pressures of international fame. He tried to achieve this by creating another super-group.
Blind Faith took form when Clapton was joined by Baker on drums, singer-songwriter Steve Winwood, and bassist Rick Grech. The band made the mistake of going on tour very quickly, and with so few suitable songs recorded ended up playing old Cream songs. The crowds were going wild for the Cream songs (so wild that they sometimes rioted), which was exactly what Clapton didn't want.
The band finally released their debut self-titled album in August 1969. It topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, and was well-received by the expectant music press. But by October, the experiment was over. Blind Faith never reconvened after Clapton realised that forming a supergroup wasn't the best way to ease the pressures of worldwide interest in your work.

Mick Abrahams Band - At Last 1972

Michael Timothy 'Mick' Abrahams (born 7 April 1943, in Luton, Bedfordshire, England) was the original guitarist for Jethro Tull. He recorded the album This Was with the band in 1968, but conflicts between Abrahams and Ian Anderson over the musical direction of the band led Abrahams to leave once the album was finished. Abrahams wanted to pursue a more blues/rock direction, while Anderson wanted to incorporate more overt folk and jazz influences. He was replaced first by Tony Iommi who would leave Tull after only a few weeks and would later go on to form Black Sabbath, and then by Martin Barre who remains with Jethro Tull to this day.
Abrahams went on to found Blodwyn Pig and the group recorded two albums, Ahead Rings Out and Getting to This before breaking up in 1970. Abrahams soldiered on with the short-lived Wommet, then the Mick Abrahams Band and has continued to release albums by himself and with reunited versions of Blodwyn Pig. He has worked as a driver, lifeguard and financial consultant, occasionally playing gigs, especially to support causes in Dunstable, Bedfordshire.
Abrahams caused some controversy in Tull fan circles for his formation of a band called This Was in the late 1990s, which reunited the members of the first incarnation of Jethro Tull (with the exception of Ian Anderson) to perform songs from that era of Jethro Tull's music. Tull fans disapproved but Ian Anderson apparently was not too offended, as in recent years Abrahams and Anderson have guested on each other's records. Abrahams has also participated in Jethro Tull reunions as well as one-off projects and gigs over the years.
According to his website, Abrahams has recently suffered a heart attack (November '09), and will have to recuperate before resuming work.

Jeff Buckley - Skethces (For My Sweetheart The Drunk)

It's a shame we'll never know how good Jeff Buckley could have been, but the indications are that, up to his death in 1997, he was set to shine.
His credentials were promising, he was the son of Tim Buckley, though he had barely met him, and his mother and stepfather were musical, encouraging his interests to the point that, at 12, he had decided to become a musician. After attending a one year music course when he left school, he went on to play guitar in several bands while working in hotels.
He moved to New York in 1990 and became interested in Qawwali - music of India and Pakistan. Around this time he was offered the opportunity to record a demo, and the result was Babylon Dungeon Sessions. In the Spring after releasing the demo, he took part in a tribute concert for his father and it was this appearance which raised his profile with the record industry. After a brief stint with the band Gods and Monsters in 1991/2 he went back to performing solo, earning a reputation in the folk café club circuit in New York.
This growing reputation eventually landed him a record deal and an EP Live at Sin-é followed, in 1994, by Grace. Grace was a slow burner though it gained immediate critical acclaim, sales built more slowly. Soon Buckley was praised by his idols including, amongst many, Jimmy Page and Bob Dylan.
After touring extensively with the first album he started to write for a new album in 1996, My Sweetheart the Drunk. However, it was never completed, after Buckley drowned in a tragic swimming accident. The album was renamed Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk and released posthumously. The gentle singer-songwriter with the fragile voice died before he could capitalize on his earlier promise, in an eerie reflection of the promise shown by his father.

Joni Mitchell - Don Juans Reckless Daughter 1977

I have loved this 1977 album ever since I first heard it, which was about 4 years ago. It has a very different feeling than the 1976 album "Hejira" or the 1979 "Mingus" album. Jaco Pastorius' bass lines and fills (often brief overdubs of several basses filling) are dominant on most of the album. I love how the bass harmonics and high-pitched fills meet and complement Joni Mitchell's vocal effects. The overture in this sense is chilling.
Jaco uses a very rich and unusual sound on his bass here. This is an absolute MUST-LISTEN for Jaco fans.
A lot of overdubbed voicings by Mitchell sneak in here and there. This had not been typical of her earlier albums, and is one of the elements which lends to the somewhat richer atmosphere than its precursors have. Another strength is of course the musicians. Mitchell is backed up by extraordinary artists here, most of whom are best known from jazz and/or jazz-fusion bands. In addition to Jaco, Wayne Shorter (on soprano sax,) drummer John Guerin, Alex Acu?a, Don Alias, Manolo Badrena, and Airto (all on percussion) also contribute. Guitarist Larry Carlton guests on "Otis and Marlena," and Chaka Kahn sings back-up on "The Tenth World" and "Dreamland." Joni plays guitar and piano equally on this album. Something that really distinguishes this from all her other 70's albums, is the 16+ minute "Paprika Plains;" it features (in addition to Joni's voice, piano, and the band) an orchestra conducted by Michael Gibbs. The mood of the whole recording is really special. I believe the cover art suits the feeling very well. There's an interesting combination of freedom and what's obviously arranged, as well as an interesting balance between gravity and humor. The performance is freer here than on "Hejira," but still strongly recommended to fans of that album and to people interested in enchanting musical performances and sounds.

Walker’s career is unique. Unlike those who came in his wake, Joe never had to learn the blues, simply because it was his mother tongue, although he doesn’t hail from the Delta. When other blues legends grew up in the pre-war South, Walker was raised in the Fillmore district of San Francisco in the late fifties and early sixties, at a time when black blues and white rock lived hand in hand. And while honing his skills locally with the likes of Lightnin’ Hopkins, Fred McDowell, Magic Sam and Earl “Zebedee” Hooker, he was very much part of the local psychedelic scene. “I knew them all. Carlos Santana and the guys from the Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead as well as Sly Stone and Larry Graham. My roommate at the time was Mike Bloomfield, fresh from introducing Bob Dylan to the electric guitar.”
Enrolling at San Francisco State University, Walker then earned degrees in music and English, ending up playing guitar for 10 years with a gospel ensemble, The Spiritual Corinthians. “I got my blues from my Dad, and my gospel from my grandmother. She lived with us, but her head was still in Arkansas, so that’s very much part of my heritage too.”
By 1985, Walker was ready to move back into blues territory. “There’s no contradiction between blues and gospel. They are the two faces of the same coin, with soul music somewhere in between,” he says. At the head of his Bosstalkers, Joe rapidly worked his way to the top of the profession with a series of stellar albums, produced by such luminaries as Steve Cropper and Scotty Moore (Elvis’s original guitar player) that radically changed the blues landscape of the late 20th Century.
Considered one of the last of the great blues guitar heroes, alongside B.B. King, Buddy Guy and Otis Rush, Joe gives more than a hundred fiery performances on all continents every year, appearing at major festivals from the US and Canada to Australia, Europe to Japan, the Far East to Southern America, while collecting awards like others collect pennies.
“Glowing like a blue beacon”—in the words of noted blues critic Bill Dahl—Walker is certainly the most brilliantly innovative guitarist on the contemporary blues scene today. A fact that owes him the unbridled admiration of certified fans like Sir Mick Jagger, Herbie Hancock, The Edge, Bono, and B.B. King, who show up at his concerts whenever the occasion arises.
